Adobe Flash Player for Android Platform

Android users can finally give out shrieks of joy. Not because the Android phone is great, but because it just got BETTER. Adobe Flash has finally arrived on the Android platform. Here’s a snub to the iPhone right in its face. Adobe has finally released Adobe Flash Player 10.1 for the Android platform and things have never looked better before.

The release of the Flash player for the Android platform can be the result of the tensions escalating between Adobe and Apple. Since Apple has straight away declined the usage of the Flash in its devices and gadgets, due to the claim of it being high resource hog and not secure enough. The release of the Adobe Flash Player for Android coincides with the Google’s release of the Android’s 2.2 (FroYo) at the Google I/O Conference in San Francisco.

The Flash Player version 10.1 was completely overhauled and redesigned from scratch for the Android platform specifically. The player was designed such that it would support various mobile device inputs and at the same time optimize performance and overall battery throughput. Just to prove Apple’s allegations of Flash not being able to support multi-touch gestures and the fancy stuff that Apple likes to implement in it’s devices, Adobe seems to have gone the extra mile to make sure that the Flash player for the Android platform supports Multi-touch, various gestures, Smart Zooming, Accelerometer Inputs, and much more that basically differentiates the smart phone from the desktops.

Adobe Flash 10.1 seems to be quite serious regarding its performance. It has incorporated hardware acceleration with H.264 video decoding, Sleep Mode (which slows down the Flash Player, incase the Android phone goes into Screensaver Mode) and also an Advanced Memory Management system, which decreases RAM usage by an astounding 50%! Adobe claims that the player works with all the major chip and mobile platform players, which includes Intel, Qualcomm, Nvidia, ARM and AMD).

There is a single flaw in the player at the moment. The player is supported on the Android OS 2.2 and above only. Which makes the older model Android phones won’t be supporting the Flash player anytime soon. Adobe Flash player’s performance cannot be quite understated as yet, simply because the release of the Flash Player 10.1 for the Android platform has created a major significance over the last few months only because of the basic reason of Apple’s ban of the Flash Player over the iPhone and the iPad devices. Apple wanted to bar any kind of relationship with Adobe. Many say that Apple may be working on an alternative to Adobe’s Flash Player, which would be its own proprietary software, forcing all the users to use their development kits to build applications for the iPhone or iTouch or even the iPad.

Due to the Apple’s decision to stay away from Flash, it has created huge rifts over the developers, whether they should completely leave Flash in place of HTML5. Only time will tell what comes out at the end.

HTC Desire Review

For those who just like to be the underdog, the good people at HTC have created a smartphone for you. The HTC “Desire” is the surprise for all those who were looking to get a “Google phone”. Take a quick look at the things the Desire, originally called the “Bravo”, can do right here in this short article.

The speed, the looks, the operating system and even the screen size is the same on the Desire as it is on the much-acclaimed Google phone. The Desire is “desirable” for one extra reason, the “Sense” user interface. The optical trackpad is also superior.

The screen on the HTC Desire is 3.7 inches when measured diagonally. That is 9.4 centimeters for the readers who are using the metric system. It has super high resolution at 480 by 800 megapixels. The screen is at the top of its class in color choices. It can show sixteen million different colors. The AMOLED construction is superior to the old LCD style and uses ten per cent less energy from the battery for longer spaces between charges. The screen acrobatics are all there with multitouch, accelerometer and a proximity sensor. You can pinch and zoom and turn the screen all you like and the Desire follows you.

The important news on the HTC Desire is the Sense user “experience”. This is a view of the more pleasing widget interface, rather than a basic Android interface. A few of the advantages of the Sense user interface is a widget displays your total agenda in one screen. The widget for the weather is displayed on your current position and is installed on the home screen. For your emails, you can view a list of all of the mail, instead of just one email at a time. This is similar to viewing SMS messages. In the WebKit browser some features are not readily apparent. Doing a long press on the screen over text will bring a selection bar into view. This will select the word you want to translate or to define and send it to google for crunching.

Make your Traveling easier with an Android Phone

Most of the best things about the new revolution that is happening in the world of technology is mostly happening in the cell phone arena. We have turned our cell phones from little communication devices, to full on workstations. Now, you are able to carry a device that has the power of a computer from a few years ago in your pocket. The amount of things that can be done with this kind of power is extraordinary. Some of the phones leading the way in this smart phone revolution are phones based on the android operating system. With the smooth touch screen interface, you are able to do multiple things on the phone while you are away from the office. This is what makes phones such as these, great to travel with. Let’s go over a couple of reasons why you would do well using an android phone while you travel to distant places.

The first reason why you would want an Android phone for your traveling needs, is the service providers problem. Where the iPhone only allows phones to be legally connected to the ATT network, with an Android, you can use several different service providers. To get similar functionality out of the iPhone, you must have a phone that is jail broken. The Android phone providers also offer great network coverage for your data plans. You can access the internet no matter how far out you are. Where ATT has gotten complaints, especially with their data usage in major cities, if the carrier that you are with is not satisfactory, then you can just switch to another one.

Make Your Android Phone More Enjoyable with Free Multiplayer Games

The amount of applications and games made for Android phones increases, seemingly, minute by minute.  Even so, there are still not many multiplayer games available for the Android Operating System, but there are some.  We’ve managed to find three that we think you will like.

Sketch Online is loosely based on Pictionary.  It is played in a chat room.  In the beginning, you need to choose a screen name, pick a picture, and then choose a room.  The rooms are partitioned by language and topics like animals, objects, etc.

Each player gets an item to sketch as the game progresses.  You can choose your brush size, colors, and several tools that you can use to create an image.  You can even wipe your screen and start over, if you make a mistake.  The answer to your sketch is hidden until the round ends.  When other players are sketching, you get your chance to guess.  If you guess correctly, you and the sketch artist get points.  The game moves along with players taking turns sketching and guessing.

Sketch Online for Android phones is free, with ads, or you can pay $1.50 for the ad-free version.

Cestos is a multiplayer marble game for your Android phone.  Each player controls the speed and direction of their marble.  Cestos features different maps, along which your marble will travel.  There are obstacles and hazards associated with each map.  Once the players have locked in the direction and momentum of their marbles, they are all set loose simultaneously.  The result is chaotic and highly entertaining.  Cestos is an easy game to play, but there is enough of a strategic element to keep it interesting.  The more players you can get onboard at once, the better the round. You can download Cestos free of charge for your Android phone.

Parallel Kingdoms
is a multi-player role playing game.  The exceptional feature of Parallel Kingdoms is that it is played by overlapping real time Google maps.  Parallel Kingdoms is played at your physical location.  Your locality is constantly being updated from your GPS position.  Your character can move in a small radius without you having to physically change location, but if you want your character to move farther, you will have to get up and go to the location.  The game allows players to collect different items on the map and claim Kingdoms.  It is free to download.
