5 great Facebook and Twitter clients for Android

Most people who own a smartphone, no matter what operating system it runs on, will probably want to use the 2 most popular social networks online: Facebook and Twitter. There are already a lot of client apps created for these networks for the Android operating system. In fact, there are so many, it’s confusing.

So, to make things easier for you, here’s a list of the best Twitter and Facebook client apps, as voted by users. They’re also the ones that are regularly updated and maintained, so you don’t run into the risk of having the application suddenly stop working.

Twidroid.

The leading Twitter client for Android. It has most of the features you need and is fast and stable. You can view and publish tweets, videos and images, shorten URL’s, share tweets using SMS or Email, reply (including reply-to-all for the paid version), and do a lot of other things. The free version has no support for multiple backgrounds, no reply-to-all and no desktop widgets, but should be enough for most users. If you need those features, you can get the paid version for $5. Of course it comes with lifetime support and a few additional phone-dependant features like shake for refresh, offline tweets scheduler and multiple accounts.

TweetsRide.

Formerly named TwitterRide, this is a simple, fast and light Twitter client application for Android. It has all the basic features one might need and nothing else. This makes it perfect for people who just want to read and publish tweets and images/photos. The latest update also includes support for video uploads through TwitVid, which is great, but can use up all your allocated bandwidth pretty fast.

Facebook for Android.

Many people thought this was an official Facebook app when it launched, but that turned out to be false. Still, Facebook seems to officially endorse it (they list it on their Facebook mobile page), so you can be sure that it works well. It is a good application with all the basic features you might need. It actually comes pre-installed on a lot of phones and you can also install it yourself if you don’t have it.

Bloo.

The name doesn’t imply it, but this app is actually a Facebook client for Android. It provides all of the basic features like status updates, viewing photos, comments, and others. That is probably enough for most users. People have reported a lot of problems with the free version, and even the developer posted a message saying you should get the paid version (which is only $1 and has no problems), but you can still try it before buying.

fooBook.

This is another client app for Facebook. It has the most features of all, but users are reporting that it doesn’t work right, so you need to try it for yourself. The free edition is missing only the comment posting feature and does not have on-demand re-syncing, while the paid version has those features and is only $1.50, so it could be worth it if the free version works on your device.

The above apps are some of the best clients for Facebook and Twitter. I’m sure they’ll be improved with the next updates, so you can safely download them knowing they’ll work. What would be really nice is one single app that would provide all the features of both these networks. Maybe we’ll see one someday, but for now we just have to wait.

Stay Connected to Friends and Family with These Android Apps

Ah, family — you can’t live with them, but you really can’t live without them? Everyone has friends and family that they want to stay in touch with, and you might be surprised to find that your Android phone will help you stay closer than ever before — even when you’re far away. So don’t let college or that new job keep you from the people that you love most — just check out these Android apps and get connected!

1. Google Voice — Ever wanted to send a text message to someone that doesn’t have text messaging? Ever wanted to give out a number that was innocent enough to stay public while you kept your real number to yourself? If the answer to either of those questions is yes, you really need the Google Voice Android app. You will be able to send text messages to anyone with a Google Voice number, even if they don’t have a regular cell phone handy. They can read your text messages and even send messages back for your convenience.

2. Twidroid – Twitter isn’t just a nice thing to have — it’s practically necessary if you want to catch up with everyone’s tweets — or status updates as you might recognize them. Twidroid packs the best of Twitter functionality into an app that has definitely caught the Web by storm. Once you hit up Twidroid once, you’ll never regret it.

3. Glympse — If you do a lot of driving, Glympse is an app that you cannot live without. When your family wants to know where you’re at and how long you’ll be before you arrive, this app will give them the answers they want without you having to really even take your hands off the steering wheel — safety first, you know!

4. Meebo — IM should be simple, but with so many different networks out there, it can be pretty hard to keep up with your friends and your family. Thankfully, there’s Meebo — you will be able to connect to AIM, MSN, Yahoo, MySpace IM, Facebook, Google Talk, Jabber, ICQ…you get the idea — it’s a lot of different networks all at once. Everything is organized and everything will be saved to a chat history log you can view later on your phone or on the computer.

5. Skype for Android — The name gives it away — Skype is the powerhouse app for PC-to-PC calls, but you can bring that free connectivity straight to your Android. This mean that you won’t have to rack up huge phone bills just trying to stay connected to everyone you care for. Your family will also be pleased because they can get rid of the phone cards and just use their free Skype account to figure out anything and everything you’re doing.

All things considered, there are probably a lot more than five apps that you can use to stay in touch with family. However, these are the best of the best — why not check them out today?

Android applications you must have while traveling

Android is an operating system or an OS, that is owned by Google, a consumer favorite, and used to operate phones.  It’s every other phone service’s answer to Apple’s operating system and the ever popular iPhone.  Google has an agreement with Verizon to enable new Verizon phones to run on this network but Verizon is not the only phone company to use this operating system.  Sprint also uses Android in conjunction with its Now Network and T-moblie as well as AT&T have phones out that are using this system, too.  Kyocera is coming out with a phone on the Adroid operating system next year.

As with many other operating systems, whether on phones or on computers, one of the must-haves for the system is the ability to play games.  Since Android is the answer to the iPhone, the ability to use applications, or apps, is very important. Apps can be anything from something very useful in a person’s every day life – like the ability to turn the phone into a giant alarm clock to something that is played with just for fun – like the Android application Mahjong Solitare, which is in 3-D and is a calming puzzle game that is a classic computer game.  Due to the great difference in types; there is a very large selection of applications.  Listed below are some of the best according to users of the Android operating system.
